PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE
by Terri Politi, Boerne Chamber of Commerce President
Leadership Boerne is a community leadership program offered by the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce aimed at increasing the leadership pool for the present and future of the Boerne area. Through the program’s 12-year history, the objectives for Leadership Boerne have remained constant.
Leadership Boerne develops in potential leaders the skills necessary to effectively participate in community affairs. This program is designed to acquaint participants with community structure, challenges and resources. The result is a well-founded base of leadership.
Participants in Leadership Boerne will benefit from new learning opportunities in an atmosphere that stimulates teamwork. Not only are participants exposed to issues facing the Boerne area now as well as in the future, but they become part of an effective and creative leadership network.
We’re pleased to announce the Class of 2012 who will begin their program year in September. The Class of 2012 includes: Jesse Brown (Farm Bureau Insurance of Boerne), Ricky Burk (First United Methodist Church), Pete Cowger (Broadway National Bank), Caycee Fagala (Jimmy Lyn’s Catering and Smokehouse), Mary Jo Floyd (Randolph Brooks FCU), Case Gatlin (Gatlin & Hicks Wealth Management of Raymond James), David Harris (Riverbed Concrete), Rosanne Hernandez (United SA FCU), Matt Johnson (Dorado Builders), Patti Johnson (G&A Partners), Brooxie Jones (Kendall County Air), Stacey Kucera (Lifetime Dental), Desmond Lewis (Dog and Pony Grill), Cat Mandell (Sage Capital Mortgage), Jesse Martinez (Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce), Jon Miller (Hill Country Visiting Angels), Ken Nietenhoefer (KCN Builders), Shad Prichard (Kendall County Sheriff’s Office), Kathy Rogers (Stanbio Laboratory), Chris Scorsolini, (Methodist Boerne Emergency Center), Gayle Stakes (Boerne Convention & Community Center), Christi Surley (Sage Capital Mortgage), Donna Terrell (Legacy Mutual Mortgage), Steve Tillotson (Western Associates), Andrew Voiles (Raymond James Financial Services), and Staci Weaver (Roy Maas’ Youth Alternatives).
Like the twelve classes of Leadership Boerne that came before, the Class of 2012 will find the experience overwhelmingly informative and humbling. Informative because of the mountain of compelling material that will be presented over the course of 9 months on the deep pockets of need in our community which are being fulfilled by community leaders at organizations like Hill Country Family Services, Hill Country Daily Bread, The Kendall County Women’s Shelter, and the Christian Job Corps.
The experience is humbling because of the generosity of those same leaders who come to teach after hours of preparation and years of volunteerism to share their passion.
One reason Leadership Boerne is such a great program is that giving back is an integral part of our culture; one that extends our reach far beyond the confines of our homes and businesses.
Next May, the Class of 2012 joins the forces with the Leadership Boerne alumni and will move forward by giving back. Within the Chamber family of members, each of us can find a program that speaks to our own heart. It is through these initiatives we continue to demonstrate the importance of the Chamber’s Leadership Boerne Program as a community asset and our unwavering commitment to serving others.
